The Coastal Settlement 26.04.14

Time to sit down to plan for our coming Taiwan Trip in Dec 2014. Ms Tan, Amy and I took a cab to Netheravon Rd after our buffet lunch at Marriot Café. They brought books, brochures and ipad for the mini discussion. It always nice to travel with them as they will do the planning and I will always be the follower.

As we just had our buffet lunch, we were still very full, hence we just ordered their food juices and snacks. I love their spam fries.

Spam Fries (straight cut luncheon meat) and Nachos

I saw this make-up box at my house during my younger days...my mum said that was her dowry

The restaurant is surrounded by greenery. The interior is spacious and filled with vintage style. The warm lighting in the restaurant almost made me fall asleep while Ms Tan and Amy were discussing about our Taiwan accommodation. ZZZZzzzzz

I will definitely want to come back to try more food and drinks.

The Entertainer

Oh my god...I have been eating too much recently. Why? It's all because of this wonderful apps "The Entertainer". I happened to come across this apps when I read Mitsueki's Blog.

Without much thoughts and reading of the T&Cs, I bought the apps. ☆$95.00☆ This is not the worse part oohh...After downloading the apps, I noticed the deals stated to be redeemed in a less than 2 weeks time.

The Marmalade Pantry & Sharetea
The 1st deal I utilised was "The Marmalade Pantry" @ ION. At first, I was quite sceptical about the apps. However, the staff there was quite pro and so I managed to use it smoothly. 1 for 1 on the main course (Pasta & Meat category)YES!!! After that, we went to redeem the ShareTea @ Wisma (Milk Tea series).

We saved $56.50 inclusive of taxes. Happy...

Buffet Lunch @ Marriot Cafe
I was super happy because Marriot Café was one of the merchant in the apps. Under Marriot café, there are three vouchers : High Tea Buffet, Lunch Buffet and Dinner Buffet.

So after a morning at the Gardens by the Bay, Ms Tan, Amy and I took a cab to Marriot Hotel to enjoy the 1 for 1 Buffet Lunch. Ms Tan said she long time never eat so much unhealthy food le...hahaha...

The buffet spread : Soft-shelled crab, chicken and chicken rice, Laksa, Papadum (Indian crackers), Pork ribs, Long bean with minced pork, Fried Prawn, Oysters, Salads etc. Their cakes are nice according to Ms Tan and Amy.

Buffet Dinner @ Marriot Café
Candy and I went for the Buffet Dinner yesterday. The dinner buffet spread is more or less the same. Just that she finally satisfied her cravings for salmon sashimi and roast duck. I loved the almond lychee dessert.

Their services is excellent. The waitress were very polite and diligently clearing our tables and checking if everything is fine for us. I also saw them putting cushion on the chairs for pregnant customers to support their back. Services is so good.

Yes...I had saved approximately $226.00. I did not know how the apps calculate the savings though.

Happy Ever Laughter @ Esplanade Theatre

This is my first time ever stepped into Esplanade Theatre to watch show lei...

Amy and I did not have any plans after our lunch at Holland Village. Then we thought we should go and experience watching show at Esplanade Theatre. It was already 3pm plus and the show would start at 4.00pm when we had decided on the show.

We managed to purchase the tickets before the show started. I was actually quite worried at first because I had my camera in my bag. Lucky, the security said camera was allowed into the theatre...phew...

We were allowed to anyhow record or take photo of their performance. First time ever...I paid $70 for the ticket and laughed from the beginning to the ending. The show was rated R18 because of the vulgarities content.

I personally loved the talk show by Sebastian Tan singing some English pop song in Hokkien version; Judee Tan in her role as traditional Chinese Medicine Practioner telling us the Chang Er's story and Mark Lee telling us how much he hates English.
Date : 16 – 27 April 2014
Venue : Esplanade Theatre
Price : $47.00-127.00 from SISTIC

d' Good Cafe @ Holland Village

It's boring to hang out at the same place every week. I always wanted to go to Holland Village for a walk and now its so convenient to go there with the circle line.

At Holland Village station, proceed to Exit B. The moment we came out of exit B, in less than 1 minute of walking, we saw d' Good Café.

I am like a sua gu (mountain tortoise), first time to Holland Village. heehee

This staircase reminded me of the Starbuck at Sai Yee Street in Hong Kong...I miss HK.

When we walked up to the 2nd level, we walked straight to the counter, feeling quite lost. While looking through the menu, we heard someone shouted "someone trapped in the lift"...only then I realised there is a lift at the café...so unique hor...

 @ 2nd level : Ordering / Collection Counter

After ordering, I went to look for seats while Amy waited for the collection of the drinks. I went to the seating area beside the ordering counter. It was a very cosy area but there was no more available seat.

@ 2nd level

So I went to the 3rd level by the staircase. (You think I will dare to use the lift after hearing someone got trapped inside...heehee) It was also full house at the 3rd level, the indoor session.

@ 3rd level

Left with no choice, I had to take this romantic rooftop session. How to enjoy when the sun is so "fierce" right? I started to sweat the moment I sat down even though there is an "aircon" at the corner.

Luckily for us, before I went down to collect the food, I went to the indoor session to check it out. Heng ah, I managed to get a table for both of us at the indoor session at the 3rd level.

I regretted ordering a hot Cappuccino on a hot afternoon...but their cappuccino is nice de lor...

While I was trying to go around taking picture of the place, I saw these 2 sweet gals taking photos with their polaroid camera. I kaypo and offered to help them take photo with their polaroid camera. (I don't know when did I become so helpful de lor) heehee...I dare not wait for the "outcome" of the photograph then I faster walked away..hahaha...

 Homemade English Breakfast ($16.50)
Fresh Sea Prawn Aglio Aglio ($16.00)

Overall, it's a nice café, loved the décor, the beverages and the food. I will definitely visit the café again but will come earlier so I can get a better seats and enjoy myself to the max.
